About Anne-Sophie
Bio & Statement
Anne-Sophie Cournoyer is a Canadian artist who was born and raised in Quebec City. After wandering around the globe for a little while, she migrated to the west coast in 2011 and now resides in Victoria, BC.
Her work is inspired by her interest in esoteric philosophy, mysticism, and witches as a potent symbol for feminism. Her artistic style is influenced by many elements such as a love for the details and elegance found in botanical watercolor painting, a draw for ethereal and translucent colors, and an attraction to the mystery, sensuality and hidden meaning found in symbolist art. She also finds the human face of great beauty and just like to honor its uniqueness by painting portraits. As a result, she is the artist behind Reverie Portraits, a project dedicated to painting custom portraits in watercolor and colored pencils.
