About
Anne-Sophie Cournoyer is a Canadian artist whose symbolic work probes occult and esoteric themes. Working primarily in oil, she is known for her realistic yet surreal portraits, delicate brushwork, and ethereal colour palettes. More recently, she has been exploring the tension between Nature and the digital, the archetypal and the technological, wondering what the wild, embodied power of the Feminine might mean for Techno sapiens. Her creative process is an Eros-driven dialogue between seen and unseen realms, a portal to the liminal, an incantation, a spell.
She paints and sometimes teaches oil painting and drawing at Rockslide Studio & Gallery.Through writing, she explores the psychic undercurrents and mystery of the creative process. You can read her musings on Substack. Visit Reverie Portraits to learn more about her custom watercolour portraits.
Anne-Sophie lives and creates on the unceded land of the lək̓ʷəŋən people. In honouring the resilience of their communities, she reflects on the role of art in preserving and revitalizing ancestral knowledge, wisdom, and practices that were once suppressed and forbidden.
